Puss Gets The Boot is a 1940 animated short released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It is the first in a series of shorts that would become known as Tom & Jerry.
As far as I can tell, this Tom & Jerry short (or Jasper & Jinx seeing as that's what they were known by in this short only) rarely aired on Cartoon Network. It wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't run on its sister-channel Boomerang anymore either. The issue? Mammy Two Shoes. It's not too hard to understand why this short has become so censored and scarce on American television nowadays, this airing even uses the censored redub where Mammy Two Shoes' spelling of "out" is corrected as "O-U-T" instead of "O-W-T".
This airing of Puss Gets The Boot aired in the usual hour-long compilation of Tom & Jerry shorts Cartoon Network would play daily, though I don't have any of the other shorts from this date. The other ones to air alongside it were Tee For Two (1945), Cannery Rodent (1967), A-Tom-Inable Snowman (1966), Fine Feathered Friend (1942) and Fraidy Cat (1942).
Embedded are some commercials from the day prior during its Tom & Jerry airings. This recording didn't have any commercials intact but I figure they would all probably be about the same as the ones in the video.
