Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is a 1997 American martial arts fantasy film based off the Mortal Kombat franchise of video games.
This movie sucks. There's no other way of looking at it. Mortal Kombat is a cool enough series of games but these movies really put me to sleep. I know there has become a cult following for some of the MK films for how unintentionally funny and over-the-top they are, but I just don't have the patience or attention-span to sit through them. If there's one thing I do find neat about this film, it's the special effects. They're really awful looking in a lot of regards but there's something charming about them (as with most bad CG or effects).
Pay-Per-View recordings aren't that common for me to find, so I was actually somewhat pleased to find the featured movies (this and I Know What You Did Last Summer) weren't incredibly boring picks. I bought the tape these were on from a dusty old thrift store down the road from my old house, so it's entirely possible this was recorded in my neighborhood! Or at least somewhere relatively close.
Embedded is are the Pay-Per-View interstitials from May of 1998. I'm not sure if they're all from May 16, some may be from the days before and after.
